Hi

a real human interface

In this film, the concept of personal computer is imagined quite literally: Hi is a flesh-and-blood human doing a computer’s daily work inside a screened box.

The human goes to sleep, opens and composes emails, unzips software updates, and interacts with the outside world via colorful icons and expressions; he also shaves, smiles, and occasionally fidgets about in boredom.

Hi cleverly illustrates the extent to which computers have taken on the life-like qualities of our human companions, while also suggesting that there is a degree of poetry, of depth, that machines will never achieve.
